The Project

What Tesla Color Change Roundup Needed

Tesla owners are some of the most consistent color change customers we work with, and this roundup pulls together a handful of the finishes we've installed -- a chameleon color-shift wrap that changes tone depending on the light and angle, a matte gray Model Y, a satin orange Model 3, and a two-tone Model 3 combining two finishes on one car. Each one started the same way: an owner wanting a Tesla that didn't look like every other Tesla on the road, since Teslas ship in a fairly limited range of factory colors compared to most other manufacturers. A color change wrap is one of the fastest ways to make a mass-produced car feel personal again.

What We Did

Design, Print, Install

Every wrap in this roundup used premium cast vinyl from 3M or Avery Dennison, chosen specifically for the finish the owner wanted -- chameleon and color-shift films behave differently than matte or satin vinyl during application, and each requires its own installation approach to avoid stretching or visible seams. Tesla's smooth, curved body panels are actually well suited to wraps once trim, badges, and sensors are properly removed and reinstalled, which is standard on every Tesla color change we do. The two-tone Model 3 required an extra layer of planning to make sure the two finishes met cleanly at a body line instead of an obvious seam, and the chameleon wrap needed extra care during install since the color-shift effect makes any stretching or bubbling far more visible than it would be on a solid color.

The Result

The Outcome

Each of these Teslas came out of our shop looking distinct from the factory color it left the lot with, without any permanent change to the vehicle. That's the appeal of a color change wrap over a repaint -- the owner gets a completely different look, fully reversible, in a fraction of the time a paint job would take. If you're weighing a Tesla wrap and aren't sure which finish fits your car, these four are a good starting reference for what's possible, from subtle matte tones to a full color-shift statement piece.
